drum lesson vol 1

This one slipped under the radar for me apparently released in 2007, I picked it up yesterday, Christian Prommer better known for his minimal jazz techno? this however is a straight jazz album played in a tight quartet formula, drums, bass, piano and percussion. lovely stuff, the best new jazz album I've heard ages. authentic yet modern, I'm struggling to find words to do it justice. Christian is part of the whole 'cool' Sonar Kollektiv scene and this album represents jazz covers of some of the tracks he has used in his dj sets, if I understand it correctly. I'm not going to pretend to know all the tracks on here but it's almost worth the price for the straight cover of Trans Europe Express, which I'll need to digitise as soon as I get home.

I've started leaving the wee turntable in the car so I can have record playing wherever I am, I love this little deck, the sound quality is pretty cool and it's proving to be a pretty sturdy companion.
